Black Garlic Recipe

Black Garlic is a remarkably versatile product that can be used in many different recipes, undeniably bringing a savoury, sweet, and umami flavour into each dish. Black Garlic Puree:

Black Garlic Hummus

the Original Black Garlic’ has a recipe for Black Garlic Hummus, which is a relatively simple recipe that is made with only a few ingredients.

Ingredients: 

  • 400g tin chickpeas 
  • 1 tbsp extra virgin olive oil
  • 1 tbsp tahini
  • Juice of 1 lemon
  • Pinch of salt
  • 2 tspn Black Garlic paste
  • Ground cumin to garnish

Instructions: 

  1.  Drain and rinse a tin of chickpeas then transfer to a bowl and microwave until warm.​
  2.  Pour into a food processor, add the tahini, lemon juice, olive oil and salt.
  3.  Blitz until smooth then back into the bowl, stir in the black garlic paste and allow to rest for an hour at room temperature, adjust the seasoning if required then garnish with a drizzle of olive oil and a pinch of ground cumin. (1.)

Black Garlic Recipes – Meals:

Creamy Black Garlic Soup:

Black Garlic may also be used for more substancial meals, for instance, Black Garlic soup. A recipe from Quarter Moon Farm written below outlines how to make a creamy and furthermore perfect black garlic soup. 

Serves 4-6

Ingredients:

  • 4 medium onions
  • 2 heads roasted garlic
  • 2 quarts chicken broth
  • 1 tablespoon thyme
  • 1/2 loaf stale baguette
  • 12 peppercorns
  • bay leaf
  • 2 heads black garlic
  • 1 pint heavy cream

Instructions:

  1. Sweat onions in olive oil.
  2. Add roasted garlic, chicken broth, thyme, & bread.
  3. Put peppercorns and bay leaf in a bag; add to mixture.
  4. Simmer for a couple of hours over low heat.
  5. Remove bag of peppercorns and bay leaf.
  6. Blend soup in a blender with black garlic heads.
  7. When ready to serve, add heavy cream.

Black Garlic Pasta:

Black Garlic can also turn an otherwise bland pasta into a unique dish bursting with flavour. Here is a simple recipe that can be easily adapted for any ingredients you may have on hand.

Ingredients: 

  • Pasta Noodles
  • Butter
  • Cream Cheese
  • Parmesan
  • Chicken Breast
  • Black Garlic
  • Garlic Spice
  • Salt
  • Seasoning Salt

Instructions: 

  1. First, place Pasta noodles in a pan and bring to a boil. 
  2. Secondly, melt butter in a saucepan and combine with cream cheese, parmesan, and black garlic puree.
  3. Add pasta water to desired consistency.  
  4. Add garlic spice, salt and other desired spices until it reaches its desired flavour. 
  5. Simultaneously Grill chicken breast in a pan with seasoning salt and garlic spice. 
  6. Once pasta noodles are ready, drain and combine the noodles with sauce and add the chicken breast. 
  7. Add chopped black garlic into the pasta (optional).
  8. Finally, Sprinkle Basil and parmesan on top of the dish (optional).
  9. Enjoy!
